50 Cent on Bitcoin
Oops! There is nothing here yet.
As the story unfolded, many of 50 Cent's fans became sceptic. 50 Cent came forward and admitted that the entire story was falsified. As reported by The Independent, it was revealed that a third part converted the Bitcoin to fiat currency before it reached 50 Cent. "When I first became aware of the press reports on this matter, I made social media posts stating that 'I forgot I did that' because I had in fact forgotten that I was one of the first recording artists to accept Bitcoin for online transactions,"... "I did not publicly deny the reports that I held Bitcoins because the press coverage was favourable and suggested that I had made millions of dollars as a result of my good business decision to accept Bitcoin payments."
As reported by the BBC, 50 Cent's Bitcoin holdings had surged in value to an estimated $7-8 million. The rapper enthusiastically showcased his newfound wealth on Instagram, playfully teasing his fans with the impressive financial milestone. "A little bit coin anyone? LOL. I know I make you sick but excuse me I'm getting to the bag."
In light of the news, 50 Cent took to social media expressing his pride in making the decision to accept Bitcoin. Over the four years, the value of Bitcoin rose by 400%. "50 Cent appeared to confirm the news in an Instagram caption: "Not Bad for a kid from the South Side, I'm so proud of me.""
In a now deleted Instagram post, 50 Cent responded to the previous TMZ article, joking that he was now 'rich with Bitcoin.' He shared the following comment: "To be honest, I completely forgot I did that sh*t." This was all documented by Twitter user Neeraj K. Agrawal.
50 Cent was at the forefront of Bitcoin news back in 2014. According the TMZ, when he made HISTORY becoming the first rapper to accept Bitcoin as a form of payment, the Bitcoin sat dormant in an inactive account for years. "The rapper became the first to accept Bitcoin -- which was then valued at around $662/Bitcoin -- as payment for this work."
