As reported by The Verge, Tyson partnered with Bitcoin Direct with the goal of expanding Bitcoin's reach to a broader audience. The wallet was accessible to users on both iOS and Android platforms and featured Tyson's distinctive face tattoo as part of its branding. "The former boxer is launching a Bitcoin wallet in collaboration with Bitcoin Direct, the company behind his ATM. Users will be able to buy and sell Bitcoin from the branded wallet by going through the Gildera exchange and can use it to store Bitcoin they purchase at any digital currency ATM, including Tyson's own."
Although acknowledging that he's 'no guru' yet, Tyson expressed optimism that the introduction of his Bitcoin ATMs will help open up more discussions within the industry and contribute to the ongoing Bitcoin revolution. "People don't really understand a currency based on numerical equations. I personally still don't... but I'm grateful to be a part of the revolution and hoping that my participation in this space will lead to more conversations and help increase knowledge and awareness."
In 2015, Mike Tyson hinted at the introduction of a Bitcoin ATM and wallet to his Twitter followers. Bitcoin ATMs enable individuals to buy or sell Bitcoin using either cash or their debit cards. Fun fact! The first licensed Bitcoin ATM became operational in Seattle in May 2014. Now, there are more than 24,000 Bitcoin ATMs dispersed throughout the United States. "Coming soon...
